The Family Navigator will work closely with eligible refugee children and families across the birth-to-Kindergarten continuum through the Early Refugee School Impact Grant (Early RSI). The Family Navigator will conduct intakes and assessments with families and connect them to resources and services in the community to support the preparation of students for formal schooling, and to support the parents through engagement activities. This position supports both the Early RSI grant and the R&P program in compliance with the R&P Cooperative Agreement, and World Relief’s Mission, Vision and Values and policies.

Role & Responsibilities

    • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    • Meet with families at specific intervals to build a relationship and walk alongside them as they navigate the systems and access the services that are aligned with their individualized goals. 
    • Co-develop a Family Navigation Plan with each family.
    • Introduce, explain, and assist parents in completing ASQs.
    • Assess needs and capacities of the whole family through intake interviews and regular contact.
    • Connect families to early education resources- Head Start, WIC, ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program), licensed childcare, ESIT, and/or specialized early intervention services speech/language pathology, occupational therapy.
    • Participate in necessary job specific trainings (ASQ, PICCOLO, KPL, Relia-Trax).
    • Document all contacts and services in client case files and maintain case note logs.
    • Complete all case file forms completely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
    • Keep case notes and reports objective.
    • Attend trainings and conferences as requested by supervisor. 
    • Keep informed about refugee and immigrant issues and available services to refugees. Advocate on behalf of refugees, and refugee-serving agencies.
    • Perform all duties in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.  

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
    • Adaptable to ever changing situations and needs. 
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
    • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of client confidentiality. 
    • Must have first-hand experience with the “refugee” experience.
    • Experience with cross-cultural communication and the ability to work with clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

    • Mature and personal Christian faith
    • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
    • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
    • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
    • Computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel and Word) and internet applications required.
    • Minimum of B.A. plus two years of relevant work experience
    • Valid driver’s license and able to pass the background check and MVR. 
    • Bilingual preferred
    • Some evening or weekend work may be needed.

$19 - $21 an hour
