World Relief seeks an Employment Specialist to place newly arrived refugees into employment positions by providing direct client services related to job training, placement, and retention in a multi-cultural setting.

Role & Responsibilities

    • Duties primarily include securing job placements for newly arrived refugees which involves client screening and assessment, and case management related to employment
    • Providing one-on-one and/or group employment training
    • Assisting clients with job search activities including completing and submitting applications, and attending interviews
    • Providing transportation to program participants for job related activities
    • Maintain confidential documentation, case notes, and client data utilizing appropriate World Relief and grant program database
    • Complete grant program reports documenting participant progress and challenges
    • Interaction with staff, clients and employers
    • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Multicultural competency, the ability to work with people from other cultures who have varying degrees of proficiency with the English language
    • Computer competency, including use of MS Office applications, the internet, and electronic databases
    • Great people skills, including the ability to coach clients and interact with staff and employers in a business setting sometimes under pressure
    • The ability to multi-task, and function well in a fast pace environment
    • The ability to work well with a team to serve clients and accomplish goals
    • Multilingual skills preferred Experience working cross-culturally
    • Experience working in refugee resettlement or a related casework-type field, preferred
    • Fluent in Arabic, Dari, Kinyarwanda, Spanish, Swahili preferred

Requirements

$20 - $23 an hour
Commensurate with experience
