World Relief Western Washington is seeking a Career Pathways Assistant to support the Career Pathways Coordinator in assisting refugees and immigrants in developing and pursuing career development plans. This role is key in helping program participants achieve self-sufficiency and advance toward their professional career goals.

Role & Responsibilities

    • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    • Assist in the development of individualized career development plans and goals (short & long-term) with program participants
    • Aid in establishing and maintaining positive ongoing relationships with community colleges and community-based organizations for referrals
    • Support the Career Pathways Coordinator in building strong partnerships with relevant employers, including those offering paid training and skilled certification programs
    • Collaborate closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit community mentors in key career fields
    • Assist participants in preparing for professional careers by conducting regular check-ins to monitor progress towards goals, providing navigation services, and connecting them to relevant training and education programs
    • Help program participants access financial support and resources to overcome barriers in their career pathways
    • Support the facilitation of training workshops on topics such as LinkedIn, interviewing skills, networking, and advanced resume and cover letter writing
    • Assist in ensuring enrollment/participation goals are met through community outreach and promotion efforts Other related tasks assigned

    • A desire to serve refugees in alignment with the ministry and mission of World Relief
    • Ability to engage employers and partners cheerfully, persuasively, and professionally
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple duties
    • Adaptability to changing employment climates and shifting refugee populations.
    • Initiative, flexibility, and a desire to learn
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals
    • Experience in career counselling, social services, human resources, or related fields is highly desired
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; proficiency in one or more common immigrant languages is desirable
    • Self-motivated with the ability to demonstrate initiative
    • Intermediate computer knowledge, including MS Office

    • Current Washington State driver’s license and access to a vehicle required
$23.50 - $24.20 an hour

- Eligibility: Full Time (40 hours per week) is eligible after 3 months of employment. Part time is eligible after 1000 hours in a year.
