ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position has the primary responsibility for providing Contextualized English language instruction to adult refugees and immigrants studying English online at night, who are working to either upskill in their current positions or train for career attainment. This position helps students gain contextualized (content area/career-specific) English language proficiency, navigating cultural awareness, multiple literacy development contextualized for the workplace, and industry specific expertise. Instruction will occur online on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9PM OR on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-9PM. Instructors are provided multi-level curricula for the career area (Career Exploration, Healthcare Careers, and/or Early Childhood Education), lesson plans, and text resources. This position collaborates with the Senior Instructional Specialist over Bridges and Electives, the Senior Career Education Specialist, the Student Success Coach, and the Instructional Manager.
Schedule: 20 hours per week
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until 6/30/2026 and contingent upon funding extension.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruction
- Provide student-centered, contextualized English language instruction for adult refugees and immigrants in specific career industries.
- Implement scaffolded multi-level (NRS 4-6) lesson plans and corresponding materials focused on contextualized English language skills, driven by World Relief curricula and grantor requirements.
- Utilize multi-faceted lesson plans.
- Integrate civics education, digital literacy, oral skills development, U.S. workplace customs, and industry specific learning.
- Work closely with Senior Career Education Specialist and Senior Instructional Specialist to ensure students are learning and gaining career readiness skills. Pivot and adjust as needs arise.
- Create an online learning environment that is welcoming, accessible, engaging, and trauma-informed.
- Assessment & Record Keeping
- Conduct student assessments and attendance.
- Complete monthly reports (i.e., attendance, lesson plan summaries, etc.) as scheduled to ensure program compliance.
- Complete quarterly stories as scheduled to support development efforts.
- Track professional development on appropriate forms and with certificates.
- Coordinate tracking of volunteer hours with Education Volunteer Coordinator.

- Complete a minimum of fifteen hours of professional development each fiscal year.
- Share teaching skills, materials, information, and ideas in department professional development meetings.
- Attend staff meetings and other trainings as required.
- Participate in Adult Education Department meetings or events.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
- Familiarity with U.S. workplace culture and skills development
- Ability to teach multi-level English language learners in a contextualized career environment
- M.A. in TESOL or MA/BA in related field (Linguistics, English, Education) with an approved TESOL Certificate
- Digital literacy skills
- Adult ESOL teaching experience
