ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Strategic Partnerships Officer will play a critical role in growing organizational capacity and in engaging partners to promote private funding for World Relief Western Washington, establishing and cultivating relationships with a portfolio of current and prospective partners. They will be a key contributor in the Development Team and the office in general to promote partnerships that advance WRWW’s mission in the community.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cultivate and serve a portfolio of 150 qualified Major Donors—defined as those who give or have demonstrated potential to give over $2,000 annually—through in-person meetings, virtual interactions and other significant touchpoints.
- Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Advancement, and the Development and External Engagement teams to achieve a successful private funding stream for World Relief Western Washington.
- Create a cultivation & stewardship plan for each portfolio donor using moves management strategies to maximize donor engagement and retention.
- Prepare and present proposals for donor meetings.
- Maintain accurate and timely records/contact reports of all interaction with donors utilizing Raisers Edge NXT.
- Oversee implementation of stewardship and recognition plan for portfolio donors.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of Development events on a regular basis – inviting major donors to attend and to sponsor tables, provide lead gifts, and invite their friends and associates.
- Serve as an ambassador for World Relief Western Washington, communicating the needs of the organization clearly and honestly, asking for specific and bold investments from partners.
- Prepare and deliver impact reports to partners/donors regarding their investments.
- Serve on the Development Team, collaborating with other team members and partnering with them in specific projects that raise World Relief Western Washington’s profile in the community.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
- Natural proclivity for building relationships
- Exceptional work ethic marked by perseverance and confidence
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Creativity, flexibility and a desire to learn
- Positive and charismatic disposition
- Ability to listen well and to empathize with others
- Professionalism and a commitment to the highest ethical standards
- Experience working or volunteering in a cross-cultural setting is helpful
- Established connections with networks and individuals with significant philanthropic capacity.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an excellent grasp of grammar and tone
- General computer literacy, proficiency in Excel, and familiarity with other Microsoft Office products
- Strong networking skills
- Authorization to legally work in the US
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Database and Donor management software experience; Raisers Edge NXT, ThankView, and Dynamics 365 preferred
- Track record of effective fundraising or executive-level sales preferred
- At least two years of experience in a philanthropy, development or sales-related field
- Charismatic and personable when working with stakeholders of all ages and backgrounds
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Prior Development Experience as a Major Gift Officer preferred.
- Strong existing network in the Seattle area and Western Washington preferred.
$36.10 - $37.50 an hour
