POSITION SUMMARY:

To assist caseworkers with core services provided to newly arrived refugees. 

Compensation: $22.75-$23.50 per hour

Role & Responsibilities

    • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    • Welcome newly arriving refugee families and individuals 
    • Provide community orientation, counsel, and assistance in addressing basic needs
    • Assist refugee clients in accessing appropriate services such as public assistance, education, health care, and employment services
    • Encourage clients to work towards self-sufficiency and early employment in tandem with other staff members
    • Assist caseworkers with documentation and case file maintenance as needed
    • Assist in maintaining regular contact with cases, including required home visits -Identify and address barriers to successful resettlement as necessary
    • Operate as a cultural broker between volunteers, church groups, service providers, staff and refugees. -Other related tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • A desire to serve refugees in support of the mission of World Relief
    • Flexibility and the ability to learn quickly in a fast paced work environment
    • Good oral and written English communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively in cross-cultural settings
    • Previous experience with refugees highly desirable
    • Good time management and multi-tasking skills

    • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
    • Welcome newly arriving refugee families and individuals 
    • Provide community orientation, counsel, and assistance in addressing basic needs
    • Assist refugee clients in accessing appropriate services such as public assistance, education, health care, and employment services
    • Encourage clients to work towards self-sufficiency and early employment in tandem with other staff members
    • Assist caseworkers with documentation and case file maintenance as needed
    • Assist in maintaining regular contact with cases, including required home visits
    • Identify and address barriers to successful resettlement as necessary
    • Operate as a cultural broker between volunteers, church groups, service providers, staff and refugees. -
    • Other related tasks as assigned
    • Basic computer skills
    • Proficiency in Dari or Pashto required
    • Current driver’s license, and clean driving record required
