The Technical Writer develops and maintains clear, precise documentation for software, systems engineering, operations, and user guidance. This role involves creating installation guides, configuration instructions, and code documentation while transforming complex technical information into accessible content.

Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required. (e.g. Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency appropriate polygraph).

Capabilities

    • Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides and manuals and technical publications. Must have the ability to understand basic concepts (to include basic grammar concepts), responsible for writing technical copy for various types of documents
    • Use multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio etc.
    • Work on all phases of documentation
    • Coordinate layout and design of documents
    • Research highly technical subject matter, organizes information from multiples sources, and express technical information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience of readers
    • Apply concepts for technical writing based on engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other available sources
    • Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation utilized by the end-user community of DoD electronic equipment and systems

Required Qualifications

    • TS/SCI with agency appropriate poly
    • Six (6) years experience as a Technical Writer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
    • Four (4) years of additional TW experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree making the requirement 10 years of applicable experience and will be considered on a case by case basis.

$38.28 - $71.24 an hour
Pay Range: $38.28 - $71.24 per hour*
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. *Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
