The Software Engineer will work, within the Compute Team, with a massively parallel enterprise platform, built with Java on Free and Open-Source Software products including Kubernetes, Hadoop and Accumulo, to enable execution of data-intensive analytics on a managed infrastructure on TTO 4. The team is seeking a self-motivated Java developer who proactively completes tasks with a strong attention to detail. The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team and will be exposed to a variety of technologies depending on customer requirements.
Capabilities
- Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects
- Serve as the technical lead of multiple software development teams
- Select the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineering
- Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software
- Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitor their performance
Required Qualifications
- TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required
- Twenty (20) years’ experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Required Technical Skills
- Minimally, the candidate should be skilled in Java, database technologies (MySQL Postgres, etc.) and have some experience with Map Reduce programming model and technologies (such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc)
- Possess additional knowledge of Linux OS development, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, and Ansible
Desired Technical Skills
- Familiarity with microservices software development technique and container-orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
