As a Senior Payroll System Specialist you will be a key member of our Centre of Excellence & Transformation team. You will acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Finance systems with a primary emphasis on Payroll systems. Working closely with the pay team and other System Accountants, your main responsibility will be to optimise Xero’s utilisation of our Payroll systems and refine the associated business processes to maximise benefits while assisting with adhoc non payroll related improvements.

You will build strong relationships throughout the business and become a trusted advisor and mentor, to the Payroll and wider Finance teams.

What you'll do..

    • Develop a clear understanding of the features on the team’s roadmap. Along with the other System Accountants and wider Finance team you will help with the delivery of the team's roadmap.
    • Generate payroll reports and analysis for management review and decision-making purposes.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to payroll systems.
    • Provide training to the new and existing users on how best to use the payroll systems.
    • Collaborate with system vendors and support teams to implement systems, upgrades, enhancements, and integrations as needed.
    • Develop and complete testing plans for custom changes and planned system updates, and document testing results.
    • Develop and maintain guidance documentation on key processes within the Payroll and Finance Systems.
    • Develop and maintain specifications, diagrams and flowcharts to capture current use of systems, and to inform future integrations/projects.
    • Routine and ad-hoc administration and maintenance tasks for the Payroll and other Finance systems.
    • Monitor and escalate user queries or other system issues to external and internal support teams for issue remediation.
    • Be an expert on designing the system to meet business needs and goals, and educate the Payroll and other Finance team on best use.
    • Ensure a high quality of internal control is maintained, including change management for the relevant payroll environments used.
    • System and/or process improvements and/or issues are consistently reviewed, identified, leading and managing the implementation and testing of any improvements and scheduled maintenance.
    • Maintain/ manage user profile  and provide  right level of access/security roles the new user with following approval process.
    • Create / contribute to a fun working environment, living Xero’s values daily, with a focus on customer service and delivery both within the immediate team and wider Finance team

Experience you will bring with you..

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll administration, preferably using Ramco, Infinetcloud and ADP systems.
    • Experience with drafting and delivering documentation related to cloud and/or bespoke deliverables and customers - this includes business cases, solution documents and technical/functional specifications.
    • Experience with system implementation and integration would be highly beneficial.
    • Previous experience where you have acted as an escalation point would be beneficial
