How you’ll make an impact

The Senior Financial Accountant role is established to help deliver quality financial information and drive continuous improvement across the Financial Accounting team. You will have a thorough understanding of the Xero business environment and be an expert in process improvement and getting the best use out of financial systems. You will act as a leader within the Accounting Team and work collaboratively across the rest of the finance team.

What you'll do

    • Be a key part of the team that drives Xero’s month end close process and reporting, owning key areas including CAPEX, leases and cashflow
    • Review/understanding of wider functions/P&L, ability to analyse financial results and identify trends and anomalies and reasoning behind this
    • Support the half year/annual reporting cycles, including contributing to the reporting and audit processes
    • Support and drive reporting and audit processes for foreign subsidiaries compliance
    • Take initiative, driving change and improvements across the team and wider functions - particularly leveraging finance systems (including the month end close process)
    • Supervise, support and mentor other members of the Accounting Team
    • Review junior accountants’ work
    • Have a strong understanding of IFRS, including providing management with conclusions, suggesting solutions and identifying risks
    • Own specific non BAU projects and delivery in accordance with specified deadlines
    • Strong relationships outside of finance, as evidenced by being a key contact to business owners

    • Experience
    • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in large corporate or Big 4 CA environments
    • Qualified CA (or equivalent)
    • History of process improvement  
    • Specific experience with software companies desirable but not essential
