The data team creates, manages and delivers a wide range of data services. We’re Xero’s centre of expertise for data architecture, data modelling, machine learning, ethical data usage, and artificial intelligence service design.
As a graduate you’ll spend the year rotating through the data team’s functional areas, gaining hands-on experience into what each area does and how they work. At the end of the year, these rotations should help inform your decision about your career path at Xero.
Along the journey, mentors will aid your personal growth and development by providing feedback and teaching technical skills. Through this process you will form strong relationships across with your colleagues and peers, equipping you for an exciting career at Xero.
What we need from you
- have a passion for solving hard problems, learning new things and collaborating
- be able to write high quality reproducible and testable code
- be a self-starter and be comfortable taking the initiative
- be comfortable working with teams across different time zones
We welcome prospective grads from a broad range of majors, including psychology, sociology, law, ethics, computer science, biology, physics, chemistry, maths, statistics, teaching – you get the idea!

We’ll need a copy of your CV, as well as links to any online projects, your website, GitHub/Stack Overflow and anything else you want to show us.
We’ll also need a copy of your academic transcript – we know it won’t be complete until the end of the year, so just send us everything so far.
Instead of a cover letter, in your online application we’ll ask you to tell us a bit about yourself and your thoughts on technology.
You need to be a citizen or permanent resident to apply. We’ll need a copy of your passport and/or visa for a start date in Feb 2022.

The recruitment process
Applications open on 1 March 2021 and close 14 May 2021.
Once you’ve submitted your application, we’ll review all entries and invite candidates to interview before making a decision.
