How you’ll make an impact:

As a Data Analyst, you'll join our Customer Technology team as you serve a wide variety of internal teams and Xero customers.
Our Customer Technology team shapes the experience of how sales, customer experience, marketing and operations teams do their jobs and help our customers get support and manage their relationship with Xero. We are responsible for sites like Xero Central, Xero Product Ideas & Learning as well as features inside our accounting products like accessing support and finding the right apps and services to run their businesses.

We build products that help internal teams be more efficient by digitising business processes, so being able to bridge the gap between product analytics and commercial insights will be critically important to success in this role. You might be creating dashboards and visualisations one day, helping our product managers define leading indicators and test their product direction the next, doing a little light data engineering in conjunction with our engineers, and keeping up on the latest trends in AI to round out the week. What you'll do:

    • Use a range of simple and advanced analytical techniques and approaches to understand how our customers use our products, what value we are delivering and where there are still opportunities
    • Collaborate with our product managers and other key team members to define data needs and establish insights that inform their decisions
    • Build dashboards and visualisations for common questions to enable teams to self serve insights
    • Understand the role our team’s offerings play in Xero’s commercial performance and the relationship between our team’s activities and top level company metrics such as ARPU or Gross Margin
    • Facilitate experimentation and other fast-build approaches by defining leading measures to support hypothesis testing and wrangling the data to determine success or failure
    • Be the expert on our datapoints, what they mean and how they are used
    • Understand any gaps and limitations in our datasets and work with teams to continually improve the situation
    • Collaborate on methods, tools and processes to improve our team’s access to and understanding of data, and ensuring as data producers we’re contributing to how Xero wants to use data company wide

What you’ll bring with you:

    • Demonstrated experience working with large datasets using SQL for data extraction, manipulation and analysis
    • The ability to tackle unfamiliar domains and work with complex and diverse datasets
    • Experience with enterprise tooling for data and analysis - eg SQL + Git + DBT + Visualisation Tools
    • Experience with delivering analytics in the form of visualisations and interactive dashboards
    • Strong data literacy skills earned through a mixture of experience with large data, ideally from a commercial or product setting
    • An eagerness to gain business context to help inform your approach to the analytical activities, and solve customer problems alongside your stakeholders
    • Experience directly presenting insights to non-technical audiences including senior stakeholders
    • The ability to to break down complex data and deliver meaningful, actionable insights to stakeholders in a clear and digestible way
