How you’ll make an impact
As the GM of Payments Platform, you’ll lead the strategy, development, and operations of Xero’s global payments platform. Your mission will be to build a modern, fault-tolerant, processor-agnostic payments infrastructure that powers seamless money movement across our global ecosystem. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of how our small business customers pay and get paid—securely, reliably, and effortlessly.You will work cross-functionally with product, engineering, compliance, and business teams to optimize transaction performance, integrate new payment rails and processors, and scale our capabilities across markets. Your leadership will directly contribute to our ability to deliver value-added payments services to millions of businesses worldwide.
What You'll Do
- Lead the vision, roadmap, and execution for Xero’s global payments platform, enabling secure, scalable, and reliable payment flows.
- Architect and evolve the platform to be processor-agnostic, enabling flexibility across acquiring banks, PSPs, and networks.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Risk, Compliance, and GTM teams to deliver a world-class developer experience and customer-facing reliability.
- Ensure high platform availability and fault tolerance through robust system design, proactive monitoring, and incident response.
- Drive continuous improvement in transaction success rates, authorization performance, and time-to-money metrics.
- Evaluate and integrate new global payment processors, methods, and networks to expand Xero’s payment capabilities.
- Hire, mentor, and grow high-performing teams of engineering and product leaders.
- Represent the payments platform in senior leadership forums and contribute to strategic decision-making across Xero’s Payments and Revenue forums.
Success Looks Like
- Develop a clear understanding of Xero’s current payments platform architecture, processor integrations, and reliability metrics.
- Build trust with cross-functional stakeholders and establish alignment on top priorities.
- Identify and prioritize early platform gaps or risk areas.
- Transition Xero’s payments platform to a resilient, modular, processor-agnostic architecture.
- Achieve measurable improvements in transaction reliability, authorization rates, and time-to-funds.
- Launch new payment processor integrations across key global markets.
- Grow and retain a high-performing leadership team in product, engineering, and operations.
- Establish the platform as a strategic enabler for future innovation in Xero’s financial services offerings.
