The main purpose of the Developer Relations Specialist Intern is to support the Lean Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) within the Research and Development Department in enhancing Developer Experience (DX) through innovative practices and tools. 

This role involves acting as a liaison between developers and the change management team, streamlining the onboarding process for developers, promoting a comfortable work environment, and leveraging AI tools to drive excellence in DX. Additionally, the intern will collect feedback from developers, identify their issues and suggestions, and help adapt methodologies, processes and tools to meet the actual needs of developers as well as to collaborate with R&D Leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Developer Liaison: Act as a mediator between developers and the LACE, facilitating clear communication and understanding of developer needs and feedback.
    • Feedback Collection: Gather and document feedback from developers to identify common issues, challenges, and suggestions for improvement.
    • Onboarding Support: Assist in streamlining the onboarding process for new developers, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition into the organization.
    • Process Adaptation: Help adapt development methodologies and processes to better align with the real-world needs and preferences of developers.
    • AI Tools Utilization: Leverage AI tools to enhance Developer Experience (DX) and support the implementation of innovative practices and tools.
    • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with R&D Leadership to promote and expand the adoption of cutting-edge development practices, contributing to a metrics-driven culture of problem-solving.

REQUIREMENTS

    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or Human Resources Management or a related field with exposure to Developer Relations, Developers Communities building initiatives.
    • Basic understanding of software development practices and methodologies (someone who can speak to developers in their language and the developers accept him as one of their own).
    • Familiarity with coding languages such as Python, PHP, Java, or JavaScript.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when required.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Empathy and the ability to understand and address developer needs and concerns.

GOOD TO HAVE

    • Proficiency in using collaboration tools like Google Suite, GitHub or Jira.
    • Knowledge of AI tools and their application in software development.
    • Experience in the tech industry, particularly in roles related to software development, developer advocacy, or tech community engagement, would be an advantage.
    • Proficiency in using developer productivity tools and platforms, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines, would be beneficial.
    • Experience with organizing or participating in developer meetups, hackathons, or conferences. Additionally, a passion for emerging technologies, a keen interest in AI and its applications in software development, and a genuine interest in fostering a comfortable work environment to improve developers' lives would be highly valued.
