Position Overview:
We are seeking a Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer with strong exposure to FEED and Detail Engineering for Burner Systems associated with Heaters and Boilers. The role demands deep understanding of combustion control philosophies, instrumentation design, control system architecture, and project deliverables typical of EPC projects in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical domains.
The engineer will be responsible for developing complete C&I design packages from concept through commissioning, ensuring compliance with international codes, client standards, and Zeeco’s quality and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on experience with all types of Industrial Burners including Oil, Gas, Combination, Duct, and Radiant Wall Burners, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of Boiler Operations and associated ancillaries for WHRB and HRSG systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems within overall plant operations.
- Prepare engineering documentation including Instrument Index, Line Lists, Specifications, Datasheets, Loop Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Hook-up Drawings, Cable Schedules, Cable Tray Routing, Area Lighting, Panel/JB Drawings, Fuel Skids, Electrical Tracing, and IOMs for control systems and instrumentation.
- Perform sizing and selection of Ex-proof and Intrinsically Safe Instruments suitable for Hazardous Areas.
- Conduct/Participate in KOM, FAT, Design Review Meetings, 3D Model Reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL Studies with customers and stakeholders to identify and mitigate combustion risks.
- Ensure compliance with regional statutory and regulatory standards such as API, NFPA, and ISA.
- Develop detailed P&IDs, Cause & Effect Diagrams, and Control Narratives, and implement them in DCS, SCADA, BMS, and ESD PLC systems.
- Prepare specifications and data sheets for field instruments including FCV, PRV, PT, FT, TT, ROs, Analyzers, Shut-off Valves, Dampers, Flame Scanners, and CEMS Systems.
- Manage all C&I project aspects including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with Zeeco’s global offices across various time zones for daily/weekly reviews and progress updates.
- Liaise with vendors and contractors to ensure timely procurement, quality compliance, and on-time delivery of equipment and services.
- Conduct FAT/SAT of PLC systems and panels; assist commissioning teams to ensure smooth system integration and startup.
- Support PGTR activities to validate contractual requirements and performance guarantees of supplied equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to coworkers for skill development and knowledge sharing.
- Offer subject matter expertise for troubleshooting and problem-solving during design, commissioning, and operation phases.
- Participate in virtual meetings across different time zones for project discussions and decision-making.
- Demonstrate willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, inspections, and project meetings as required.
Tools & Software Proficiency:
- PLC/DCS Engineering Tools (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Emerson, Honeywell, etc.)
- AutoCAD / SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) / Intools
- MS Office Suite and Project Management tools
- Familiarity with CEMS, Flame Scanners, Analyzers, and Combustion Safety Systems preferred but not mandatory
Remote Collaboration & Travel:
- Participate in virtual design and progress meetings across global teams.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for vendor FATs, site support, and client review meetings.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 5–10 years of relevant experience in FEED and Detail Engineering of control and instrumentation systems.
- Industry Background: EPC / Design Consultancy / OEM in Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Petrochemical industries.
- Field Exposure: Minimum 3 years’ site or refinery experience preferred (FAT/SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting).
- Global Exposure: Strong familiarity with API, NFPA, ISA, IEC, and ATEX/Ex standards preferred.
