Required Qualifications

    • B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering).
    • 5 to 10 years of experience working on the design of process and power piping.
    • Proficient in computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, CAESAR II, CADWORX, SP3D and MicroStation).
    • Strong knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3 Code for Pressure Piping and ISO13480.
    • Familiar with local & international codes, regulations, specifications including but not limited to (Saudi Aramco Standards, SADARA, SABIC and others).
    • Familiar with equipment nozzles loading assessment, checking and limitation.
    • Knowledge of WRC 107/297 for Nozzle load Check.
    • Knowledge of Stress analysis of piping system for Occasional loading (Seismic, Wind)

    • Performs piping stress analysis using applicable software (CAESAR II, SP-3D, PDMS, CADWORX, PDS, MicroStation).
    • Prepares stress analysis reports and stress isometrics.
    • Creates models of the pipeline to test its strength and durability.
    • Oversees the construction and MOCs of the pipeline based on chemical service provided by client.
    • Hydraulic design of piping system (pipe sizing, pressure drop calculation and pump head selection).
    • Prepares the piping isometric drawings with joints numbers and spools numbers to be ready for fabrication.
    • Coordinates with other departments to resolve conflicts when they occur.
    • Prepares work Instructions for the piping designers and draftsmen.
    • Discusses and analyzes problems that arise during the design.
    • Provides technical support to the mechanical and control teams and projects team.
    • Reviews vendors drawings and checks the required components Interdisciplinary.
    • Prepares piping material specification and valve material specification.
    • Creates technical piping specifications and piping erection specifications.
    • Carries out safety assessments of piping systems to assure safe and efficient piping systems.
    • Prepares of MTO for all piping, fitting and valves as per ASME standards.
    • Prepares Safety Instruction Sheet (SIS) for hydrotest, Tie-in Index & Tie-In Package.
    • Checks other detailed drawings of civil structure and Instrumentation cable tray for clashes in pipe routing.
    • Finalize the pump suction line to meet the requirement of NPSHa & NPSHr based on pump manufacturer recommendation.
    • Conducts and attends 3D model review with engineering team and client using smart plant review.
    • Works with the process and control engineers to finalize P&IDs and PFDs.
    • Prepares in-plant piping thickness calculation for process piping as per ASME31.3 and outside-plant pipeline thickness calculation & branch reinforcement as per ASME31.8.
    • Performs engineering calculations like expansion loop, slug force, relief valve thrust equipment displacement at nozzles etc.
