About the role
We’re looking for a Director of Engineering with demonstrated experience architecting large-scale Java web applications and leading agile software teams. This unique opportunity has your focus both on people and processes as well as architecture for our public and private APIs, multiple frontend clients, our studio admin app, and integrations with third-party providers. In a nutshell you are the key to the delivery of our software as well as to the well-being of the team that delivers the software. Your main responsibilities are to develop the organizational culture that aligns with zingfit's core values and to keep us on schedule for product delivery.
What you will be doing:
You will manage our core engineering team and lead the product development and support efforts of that team day-to-day.
You will build systems that strengthen and encourage the reliable growth of our applications, data, and production traffic.
You will bring a passion for surfacing from logs and system metrics data that is clarifying, relevant, and actionable.
You will configure and maintain alerting, and be engaged to ensure relevant teams stay informed to remediate and enhance their systems.
You will work with members of the SRE and development teams to build processes and related systems that optimize how we deliver software through standard delivery pipelines.
Some things we consider critical for this role:
You’ve managed engineers, a product team, and/or SCRUM teams previously
Experience with building scalable, stateless, highly available applications
Proficiency in analyzing time-series data
Experience developing on and deploying to UNIX-like operating systems
Clear understanding of the HTTP lifecycle including the browser, DNS, load balancing, etc
Experience working with an n-tiered production web application
OAuth2 / Spring Security High Transaction / High Availability SystemsUnit, Integration, and Load Testing
Full stack web development including frontend development (HTML/CSS/JS)REST API Design
Experience with all significant AWS services
You should be a great communicator and great issue resolver and love good documentation
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
Experience with Docker or orchestration frameworks like Kubernetes
Experience with Serverless technologies
You’ve built mobile applications using react native
You’ve used jOOQ or other SQL-centric DSL
