The Path Forward Return to Work program at Zoox is a 16-week paid returnship for experienced professionals returning to the workforce. The program is open to individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caregiving of any kind. Our Firmware team is responsible for embedded software development, extensions, and maintenance for multiple embedded platforms for the Zoox vehicle. This encompasses “car-like” driving functions, newer “robot-like” user interactions and functions, foundational board development, and more. 

We are looking for people who are passionate about diving deep into technical problems and creating robust and reusable software. We are looking broadly for contributions ranging from developing features; essential software infrastructure; and extensive, insightful automated verification and validation.

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications

    • BS+ in relevant engineering discipline
    • Proficiency in C/C++ or Python (both is a plus)
    • At least one previous industry role in relevant area
    • Professional and positive communication skills

Bonus Qualifications

    • Object-oriented programming experience
    • Proficiency in embedded systems, robots, or mechatronics
    • Prior experience at an autonomous vehicle, automotive, or robotics company
    • Proficiency in high assurance practices as part of safety-critical system development (eg requirements writing, design docs, testing, etc)
    • Good debugging skills
    • Experience writing code with source control (Git)
    • Involvement/leadership with clubs related to robotics, automotive, or related fields
Communication
The salary range for this position is $155,000 to $249,000. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position. Additional benefits may be offered.
