As a Mainboard Electrical Engineer at Zoox, you will be developing complex and large high speed digital, mixed signal, and RF PCBs. The role will include conceptual design, schematic capture as well as guiding the PCB layout technicians. The position requires an experienced individual who has previously held a similar position within the electronics industry, working with large Intel, ARM or equivalent multi GHz CPUs. This role requires working within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to design printed circuit boards in accordance with industry standards and the company’s practices and requirements.


    • Contribute to the team design process, participate in brainstorming and design reviews
    • Analyse design requirements, create block diagrams, capture schematics,  selection appropriate components
    • Design high-layer-count PCBs using industry standard techniques using Altium Designer
    • Support your project as the technical liaison within Engineering, and other company departments, as well as with external suppliers


    • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
    • A minimum of five years industry experience in a similar role
    • A proven track record of successful production quality PCB designs
    • Extensive knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer
    • Experience with fab and assembly package generation (Gerbers, ODB++)
    • Experience with ECAD library maintenance including symbol, footprint generation, and database administration
    • Experience in analog and digital circuit design including practical component selection
    • Experience with high pin count multi GHz CPUs or GPUs
    • Experience with DDR memory, impedance matching and high speed serial buses such as PCIe
    • Experience designing and routing switching mode power supplies
    • Mastering of grounding and decoupling topics
    • Mastering of signal integrity and power integrity topics
    • Experience with PCB partitioning and stackup design and optimization
    • Understanding of PCB fabrication techniques and associated PCB materials and processes, including HDI PCBs
    • Experience bringing up and root causing circuit boards
    • Experience writing and executing design validation plans and capturing results in reports
    • EE lab skills covering measurement and rework equipment
    • Strong oral and written communication as well as computer skills

Bonus Qualifications

    • DFM/DFA/DFT techniques
    • RF/High-speed/Low noise layout practices
    • Design for EMC practices, control of parasitics, EMI mitigation
    • Experience protecting against ESD
    • Experience with compliance certification, i.e. FCC.
    • Knowledge of IPC standards
