As an intern on the Core Firmware System Services team, you will build both embedded software and the tooling to connect it to Zoox’s diverse ecosystem of software infrastructure. By working across these two domains, you will help build a stable, performant, secure, and developer-friendly set of interconnected embedded systems. Our software touches all aspects of a vehicle’s operational day, from provisioning and firmware deployment, to vehicle startup and runtime configuration enforcement, to event logging and log offload, to system performance monitoring and analysis. We work with many teams both within and outside of the Firmware organization, connecting the world of embedded systems with the world of high performance compute and cloud infrastructure. Technical Qualifications & Language Requirements:
- Proficiency in C++ and Python
- Experience writing and debugging embedded software
- Experience with application development targeting a unix-like environment
- Familiarity with filesystems, networking, inter-process communication
Bonus Qualifications:
- Real-time operating systems
- Network introspection and debugging at and above the transport layer
- Industrial or automotive fieldbuses (e.g., CAN, J1939, EtherCAT)
- One or more inter-process communication mechanisms
- Event- or message-driven software systems
Compensation
The monthly salary range for this position is $6,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on role, degree level and type, and benefits will be offered based on eligibility. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, 401k, and a housing stipend.
