The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, including activities related to the fixed asset account and a supporting role over general ledger activities, monthly and year-end close, governmental tax filings, and annual financial audit. The successful candidate will be dedicated, trustworthy, assertive, detail oriented and customer-focused with excellent communication skills. They must be able to handle multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude. This is a job for someone willing to take full ownership of their workload, support the overall accounting function, and interact with employees throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

    • Compile accurate and timely capitalized fixed asset listings and depreciation tables in accordance with U.S. GAAP 
    • Partner with business groups on validating asset classification, functionality and impairment including reviews of purchase orders and invoices for proper general ledger account coding of purchases
    • Assist on monthly fixed asset spend, account analysis, discrepancies and month end flux explanationsIn charge of periodic physical asset counts and tagging of assets
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly accounts reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance 
    • Assist in month-end close calendar tasks including analyzing accruals and preparing journal entries 
    • Prepare governmental tax filings (e.g., property and use tax)
    • Support annual audit process by preparing schedules
    • Assist on technical accounting research of complex accounting issues
    • Recommends improvements to the company’s internal control processes
    • Perform special projects as requested 

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
    • Minimum 3 year of general accounting experience
    • Possess a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls processes
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to solve problems independently
    • Positive attitude, team player and ability to quickly adapt to changes
    • Microsoft Office suite and proficiency with Excel (intermediate level to include pivot tables, vlookups, etc)

Bonus Qualifications

    • Experience with SAP ERP
    • Big four accounting firm experience
    • Manufacturing company experience
    • CPA license
