About the Role
Stable and reliable transportation is the key promise of autonomous mobility. You will help build the technology and data-driven decision-making machine to help Zoox achieve that promise. You will partner with the Engineering, Safety, Data, and Operational teams to develop the robot’s Fault Management System and the analytics around it. You will play a key role in architecting new systems to ensure the robot fails operationally and is highly interpretable.

You will manage the Platform Stability team inside of Software Core. Your team will be a vertically integrated team of Systems-oriented engineers responsible for creating software for responding to, mitigating, and understanding all sources of instability in our on-bot software. We are looking for a leader fluent in data-driven decision-making and familiar with real-time robotics systems. 

Responsibilities

    • You will coach, mentor, and grow the Platform Stability team
    • You will lead a cross-functional team to improve the stability of the robotaxi product through metric-driven improvements to software, hardware, and operations
    • You will drive the development of robotaxi’s Fault Management System, in collaboration with Safety and Firmware teams
    • You will oversee key performance indicators and predictive models for the stability of the fleet of autonomous driving robots, in partnership with the Data team

Qualifications

    • Experience managing and growing teams of 5+ engineers
    • Experience using metrics and statistical methods to drive decision-making at various levels in an organization
    • Strong knowledge of C++ and experience in large code bases
    • Good communication and collaboration skills

Bonus Qualifications

    • Familiarity with developing Big Data technologies like Databricks, Spark, Redshift
    • Experience with large-scale vehicle or device health telemetry
    • Experience with reliability engineering or related systems engineering fields
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $211,000 to $349,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
