The Advanced Hardware Manufacturing Operations (AHMO) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to develop systems, methodologies, quality processes, and best practices to guarantee high-quality products. You will support projects developed by cross-functional teams where quality results, teamwork, and initiatives measure individual performance. A successful candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to work independently.
In this role, you will:
- Be the main point of contact between Program Management, Design Teams, Test Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Risk Management for hardware NPI development, as well as sustaining engineering and failure analysis (i.e. LiDARs, cameras, sensor pods, and compute suites)
- Play a fundamental role in supporting the setting up of procedures, instructions, and processes that will allow Zoox to align with the international standards for Quality Systems (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and similar)
- Lead Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and guide teams to create quality documents including detailed Process Flow Diagrams, Process Failure Mode Analysis (PFMEA), Inspection Reports, Dimensional reports, Functional Test Reports (FTR’s), Process Certs, Material Certs, Rework instructions, Temporary Deviation Orders (TDO’s), Packaging Reports, Part Submission Warrants (PSW’s) in various quality databases including Jira, RGBSI, 3DX, and other Internal Quality Logs
- Develop Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In Process Quality Control (IPQC), and outgoing Quality Control (OQC) requirements and set metrics for analyzing performance
- Be responsible for driving NCMR and CAPA to closure
- Hold MRB (Material Review Board) meetings with key stakeholders to determine the disposition of on-hand units in quarantine
- Travel up to 15% both domestically and abroad for supplier/vendor visits
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar required (Master’s preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in NPI and sustaining engineering in a complex electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
- Experience multi-tasking in a start-up-like environment and ability to make risk-based decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Background in NCMR handling in addition to driving SCARs and CAPAs to resolution
- Experience performing statistical analysis using Minitab or similar software
Bonus Qualifications
- ASQ CQE/CQA/Certified 6-Sigma Green Belt
- Experience with sensors such as LiDARs, radars, or cameras design
- Experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment and building a QMS from scratch
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $151,000 to $217,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
