We are seeking a technical leader to craft a delightful user experience across our various rider-facing interfaces. This includes our ride hailing mobile apps, in-vehicle infotainment tablet and the systems that orchestrate and manage the overall vehicle experience.
We leverage Kotlin as a foundational technology. Our mobile apps share cross-platform business logic via Kotlin MultiPlatform, our Infotainment tablet is an embedded Android App authored in Kotlin, even our cloud backend is written in Kotlin. Supporting technologies include Jetpack Compose for the Android view layer, SwiftUI for the iOS view layer, Android Open Source Platform (AOSP) for the infotainment platform and C++ for the components that manage and orchestrate the overall vehicle experience.
Our ideal candidate has the expertise to go into depth with Android application development and a breadth of experience to influence across our full product stack, including cloud and robot software.
In this role, you will:
- Partner with product, design and engineering leadership to define a technical vision, strategy and roadmap that complements the product direction.
- Design end-to-end technical solutions that span not just our user interfaces, but also the cloud systems, autonomous planner and vehicle firmware that are their nearest neighbors.
- Drive cross-team and cross-organization initiatives that execute and implement the aforementioned roadmaps and solutions.
- Establish best practices for system reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership both within and outside of your immediate organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in Android development using Kotlin.
- Proven experience in architecting and designing full-stack applications.
- Demonstrated success leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams.
- Established history driving operational excellence, improving observability, performance and reliability of client and mobile systems.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence both product and technical direction.
- Strong track record of mentoring senior engineers and growing technical teams.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with embedded Android and AOSP.
- Experience with Swift and iOS application development.
- Experience with C++ application development.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $240,000 to $350,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
