We are creating the world's first building information modeling application that is fully connected to an Industry 4.0 capable factory to manufacture any building. Our ¼ scale test production line proved its feasibility over the last five years.
We’re now looking for a hands-on, experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC) who can help us design an HVAC system from ground up.
This is not a role for an application engineer who wants to use standard equipment, but rather an exciting opportunity for a person who will help us design a system that’s tailored for the ZURU housing project. As an out of the box thinker with a can-do attitude, you will help build an advanced HVAC system to cool and heat our homes. Experience in HVAC is required. This is not a task for one person, so you will have a chance to build a team around you to build a highly efficient, flexible, and adaptable HVAC system.
The goal is that all ZURU buildings are great buildings. You will help select interior and exterior design finishes tailored to all target cultures and countries but bound to the principle that good design is transparent and timeless. As an out-of-the-box thinker with a can-do attitude, you will work alongside a team of product development engineers to design a new generation of buildings. This is not a task for one person, so you will have a chance to build a team around you.
What You'll Do:
- Develop a new Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning System to be used in the ZURU Tech Buildings.
- Use commonly used tools such as CAD, FEA, and CFD in design.
- Analyze the airflow and heat transfer for a multitude of buildings.
- Work on establishing, developing, and implementing best in class installation processes and procedures to ensure the highest quality and longevity of installations with our HVAC product.
- Work with internal and external teams on the development of electrical components, user interface, building integration, and the look and feel of the products.
- Push the envelope of what is technically possible and dream up new ideas for the best products.
- Initial work on a residential product before shifting to a commercial solution.
- Work with our prototyping and testing departments to validate designs and performance.
- Work alongside the code compliance team to design a product that can be used in all our target markets.
- Work with our software teams to develop our own software to design and implement the HVAC system.
- Stay up to date on industry developments, ASHRAE, approval and certification agencies such as UL, ETL & AHRI.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in HVAC product development.
- Experience using SolidWorks, 2D and 3D drawing software.
- Deep understanding of the mechanical and electrical components making up an HVAC system.
- Experience in optimizing HVAC systems, ducting systems, and system performance.
- Understanding of code compliance, testing, and implementation.
- Willingness to travel is a plus.
