Senior Façade/Windows and Door R&D Engineer
United States, Los Angeles /
ZURU Tech – Tech /
Full-Time
/ On-site
We are creating the world's first building information modeling application that is fully connected to an Industry 4.0 capable factory to manufacture any building. Our ¼ scale test production line proved its feasibility over the last five years. Now the project is in the phase where we run already full-size tests.
We’re looking for a detail oriented and experienced engineer who can help us design fenestration products that integrate seamlessly with our building product, that are low-maintenance, and long-lasting. This is not a role for an application engineer who wants to use available standard products, but rather an exciting opportunity for a person who will help us design systems that tailored for the ZURU housing project. As an out of the box thinker with a can-do attitude, you will work alongside a team of product design engineers to design a new generation of buildings. Expansive experience in designing and implementing fenestration products is required. This is not a task for one person, so you will have a chance to build a team around you with the goal of assuring that every ZURU building is fitted with technically advanced fenestration products that frame views, provide light, access, and ventilation.
NB: This is a Full-Time position based in the LA office (El Segundo)
What You'll Do:
- Responsible for developing products for building fenestration. This includes the extrusion/pultrusion design, hardware, mechanisms, waterproofing, and building attachment.
- Drafting and sketching of façade, window, and door details, hardware, integration details, and writing of technical documentation.
- Analyze simulation of designed products (e.g., loadings, thermal analysis, condensation risk, energy loss/gain, etc.) with specialized software.
- Be the subject matter expert for relevant building codes, energy codes, industry standards, façade, window, and door testing standards and mockups.
- Work on establishing, developing, and implementing best in class products of highest quality and longevity.
- Work with internal and external teams on the development of components, building integration, and the look and feel of the products.
- Push the envelope of what is technically possible and dream up new ideas for the best products and performance possible.
- Work with our prototyping and testing departments to validate designs and performance.
- Work alongside the code compliance team to design a product that can be used in all our target markets.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering/Architectural discipline (Master's degree preferred),
- 7+ years of experience in Building Envelope development and implementation.
- Experience in using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
- Deep understanding of code compliance, construction processes, building performance, and testing.
- Willingness to travel is a plus.
- Please note: this is a full-time position in our Los Angeles office (El Segundo).
- Please note: US work permit required.
To Apply:
- Please note: the salary range for this role is: $90,000 - $160,000 USD + bonus + benefits based on skills and experience
