To coordinate, stage, organize and mark all commercial hardware for shipment to job sites, as required by projects scheduled ship dates while adhering to and understanding safety policies and regulations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform all job operations in a safe manner, in accordance with all company safety policies. Daily from the beginning to the end of each shift.
- Retrieve hardware for the ease of loaders and drivers, using hardware pick tickets or requested ship dates by commercial sales staff and mark with appropriate door opening number – as required daily by project ship date.
- Inspect material for quality, quantity, size, style and finish using company paperwork and acquired knowledge of commercial product lines. Daily check for discrepancies and report to commercial sales or purchasing.
- Palletize, stage and locate all hardware by customer orders or project name, wrap and prepare larger orders for shipment to jobsite and record location of material for sales and loaders. Locate smaller orders on the commercial hardware wagon in the Hollow Metal Shop. Daily as required by project ship dates, using knowledge of appropriate storage locations and all necessary supplies and equipment needed.
- Assist salespeople with the delivery of hardware to locksmiths for keying to jobsite for delivery. Perform as needed.
- Review levels of commercial inventory with Shop Supervisor and Purchasing Department, checking for inventory discrepancies, damages, etc. and report to appropriate personnel. Weekly, using vendor worksheets or as needed.
- Assist with inventory related product cycle counts and year-end inventory process for all commercial lines. Daily as required or scheduled by inventory manager.
- Maintain warehouse area for effective storage, i.e., sweeping, cleaning and organizing material using necessary supplies and equipment. Daily as needed on a continuous basis.
- Attend product seminars or meetings to improve product knowledge on commercial door and hardware lines.
- Assist in the shop housekeeping i.e. sweeping, storing and cleaning. Maintain interior door shop vac system cleaning.
- Employee will operate a forklift in a safe manner (if certified to use).

Required Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
- Hand and power tools experience standard to the carpentry field (see list below)
- Ability to use measuring devices such as a tape measure and transfer them to a production piece within 1/32'
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables and standardized situations
- Must be able to work overtime when needed and some Saturdays to satisfy production schedule demands
- Must have prior experience in finish carpentry or assembly of finished wood products for the end user
- Knowledge of general safety guidelines in carpentry or construction field
- Some product knowledge of doors and door trim
- Experience working in a team environment

Physical Demands
- Must take and pass post-offer screening drug test, physical and consent to a background check
- Standing/Walking: 8 hours repetitive on feet on concrete floor
- Stooping/Reaching/Bending: continuous to gather items and fabricate
- Overhead Lift: up to 30 lbs. without assistance and up to 60 lbs. w/ assistance.
- Lift/Grasp: with dominant hands and fingers up to 60 lbs. without assistance and up to 120 lbs. with assistance holding woodworking or steel components in fabrication
- Carry/Grasp: with dominant hands and fingers up to 40 lbs. without assistance and up to 80 lbs. with assistance
- Push/Pull: with dominant hands rolling carts of interior door products up to 500 lbs. without assistance and up to 1000 lbs. with assistance
- Vision: must see near and far sighted
- Hearing: must hear machinery sounds
Work Environment
- Shop warehouse building
- Must be able to work in varied temperature hot or cold depending on the weather and how it effects the shop temperature
- Extended work day (overtime) as needed
