The Assistant Store Manager supports the Manager with the day to day operations in the cafe. You care about the craft of coffee & bagels, the communities that we serve, the teams that we build, and the relationships that grow along the way. You are focused on serving the best coffee & bagels in a fast paced environment and think quick on your feet to adapt to the situations at hand. You know how to leverage the strengths of your team to build a one of a kind customer experience that both embraces and elevates an inclusive work culture.

You will

    • Support store operations while assisting the store manager in carrying out goals for the store and for the team.
    • Able to train all new hires (shift leads, baristas, and counter).
    • Conducts live bar training for all new baristas and attends workshops and regular meetings with Coffee Education Manager.
    • ASMs may be required to travel to other locations in order to conduct live bar training if those locations do not have an ASM available
    • Role model on the floor communication and deployment and provide shift leads with best practices, coaching, and feedback. 
    • Show a willingness to improve and receive feedback and also provide respectful, constructive feedback to others by sharing best practices. 
    • Communicate problems and discrepancies to the store manager.
    • Ensure all customers have a hospitable and welcoming experience by coaching the team on how to engage with customers to exceed their expectations.
    • Promote and maintain a respectful work environment where all employees and customers are treated with respect and dignity.

You have

    • Basic math & computer skills
    • A full-time scheduling availability and is available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
    • An eye for analytics and noticing trends

Compensation

    • $48k (not tipped) Salaried Position
Our Assistant Store Manager positions are dynamic roles. Below are some of the physical demands the job will make of you.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. You will be on your feet for most of the day moving between stations & attending to the cafe
• Use of hands to reach, grip & perform specific movements. You'll use your hands to operate a register, handle knives to cut bagels, spread cream cheeses, and serve coffee & tea (among other responsibilities)
• Squat, bend, and reach for items below your waist and above your shoulders. For example, you will need to bend down into a fridge to grab product, or reach above to grab cups
• Ability to push/pull, lift/carry or move up to 50 pounds. For example, you'll handle gallons of milk, daily food orders, change trashes and carry dishes
• Climbing stairs and ladders. You may need to use a step ladder to reach something or navigate up & down stairs to access storage areas.
