Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our GasBuddy engineering organization. This role is responsible for driving the execution of engineering strategy and roadmap, leading multiple engineering teams, and ensuring delivery of innovative and scalable software solutions. You will play a key role in fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence while aligning technical initiatives with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead at scale: Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the engineering organization working on consumer-facing applications.
- Partner closely with Product, BI and Marketing teams to build a strong roadmap focused on consumer engagement, experimentation and content driven growth
- Foster a culture of Engineering excellence: Champion a culture of quality, experimentation and metrics driven development.
- Drive engineering best practices, including agile development methodologies, robust production systems, and effective management of technical debt.
- Manage budgets, staffing plans, and performance metrics to ensure timely and high-quality software delivery.
- Influence Organizational Strategy: Contribute to broader engineering org practices and help shape how we build and scale cross-functionally.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
- 5+ years in an engineering leadership role managing managers and distributed development teams.
- Prior experience leading engineering teams in high growth, consumer-facing companies, including mobile and web platforms
- Deep expertise in agile software development, DevOps, cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS), and microservices architecture.
- A track record of building effective organizations and teams, including growing technical and people leaders.
- Ability to align teams with business outcomes while scaling engineering operations and culture.
Preferred Qualifications
