Professional Learning Specialist/Manager
Location: Remote | Department: Partnerships
Salary Range: 80-110k
At Quill.org, we believe every student deserves the tools to become a confident, skilled writer and critical thinker. Our free, research-backed platform helps millions of students each year strengthen their writing through meaningful, standards-aligned practice.
The Professional Learning Specialist/Manager is at the heart of this mission, partnering with educators and school leaders to design and deliver professional learning that doesn’t just train, but elevates practice.
This role is for a seasoned educator and facilitator who understands that professional learning is most powerful when it’s rooted in pedagogy, driven by evidence, and built for real classrooms. You’ll work with teachers, coaches, and district leaders to cultivate thriving writing cultures, helping them adopt Quill’s tools and embed them into daily practice in ways that change outcomes for students, especially those in underserved communities. You’ll also extend our reach by designing engaging on‑demand learning experiences and leveraging learning management systems to make PD accessible anytime, anywhere.
This individual contributor is part of the partnerships team and reports to the Director of Professional Learning. While this is a fully remote role, occasional travel may be required for team gatherings and/or attending national or regional conferences as needed.
What You’ll Do:
Lead impactful professional learning—designing and facilitating engaging, research-informed PD experiences for teachers and school leaders, primarily virtually
Coach for real impact—build educators’ confidence in applying Quill’s tools and writing pedagogy in their classrooms
Translate data into action—use learning analytics and partner feedback to identify success patterns, solve challenges, and continually improve PD offerings
Help shape the future of our approach—collaborate with internal teams to refine our professional learning strategy and resources
Champion best practices—model effective instructional strategies for literacy and writing development
Design and develop on‑demand learning experiences—create engaging, self‑paced courses and resources that educators can access anytime
Leverage LMS platforms to host, organize, and track professional learning content for educators and school leaders
Present at national and regional conferences to amplify Quill’s thought leadership mission and impact
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 6–10 years of teaching experience with demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction
- Strong expertise in writing pedagogy and the Science of Reading, with experience implementing knowledge-rich curricula such as the OER Project and Fishtank Learning.
- Proven success designing and delivering PD for adult learners—both in-person and remote
- Comfort using digital tools like Google Suite, Zoom, Nearpod, and data analytics platforms
- Strong relationship-building skills and a passion for equity in education
- Experience designing on‑demand professional learning content for educators, including videos, interactive modules, or self‑paced courses
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) for delivering and tracking educator professional development
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
Mission with impact: Help millions of students strengthen their writing and critical thinking skills
Educator-led culture: We center teachers and students in everything we do
Collaborative & remote-first: Work with a supportive, fully-remote team dedicated to equity and innovation.
Room to grow: Your ideas will shape how we support educators and students for years to come
Benefits that help you thrive: 17 paid holidays (including a year-end break), comprehensive health coverage, $1,500 for professional growth, WFH stipend, and generous PTO
Additional Materials:
As part of the hiring process, we may ask that candidates share 2–3 examples of past work that showcase their ability to design and deliver effective professional learning. These can be materials you’ve created yourself or projects you’ve led in collaboration with others.
Your portfolio might include:
- Slides or facilitator guides from a PD session you designed and/or delivered
- An example of on‑demand course content (video clip, interactive module, or course outline) you designed
- Job aids, resource guides, or handouts you’ve developed for educators
- A short clip of you presenting or facilitating (if available)
- We seek evidence of your thinking and approach, not a polished showcase. Screenshots, excerpts, and in‑progress work are welcome. Please remove or anonymize any identifying student or school information if possible.
